Arts Council to Host Annual Art Show, Sale

AVALON — The Avalon Performing Arts Council announced its 26th annual Art Show and Sale on Sat., June 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. New this year, the Art Show will feature a “Preview Night” Fri., June 21, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Light food and beverages will be provided. Located at the Avalon Community Hall, Avalon Ave & 30th Street at the beach, admission is free.
As APAC’s “premier” event, the Art Show will feature over 50 artists from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Only the artists’ original work will be exhibited and sold. Artists’ works will be judged in several categories; oil, acrylic, watercolor, works on paper/mixed media and photography. Judging and awards will be announced by 1 p.m. Best in Show carries a cash award of $500, first place $200, second place $150, and third place $100.
Sarah Becktel was the 2012 “Best in Show” award winner for her painting “The Irreplaceable Time Escapes.” Becktel has graciously donated two original framed paintings of a series of paintings she will have on display at the show. As a fund raising effort for APAC, the public may purchase a door prize ticket for a chance to win 2 two of these paintings.

The art program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The re-grant is administered by the Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission for the freeholders.
