COURT HOUSE – With the memory of summer now neatly tucked into the attics of our memories, a group of local artists brought out their winter art, reminding residents of the beauty that abounds during the coldest months of the year.
Over 30 local and regional artists are participating in a show, “Wintertime in Cape May.”
Sponsored by the Cape May County Division of Culture and Heritage, the show opened on Nov. 3 at the Beesley House
on Rt. 9 with an awards ceremony and reception.
“The theme of this show is the off-season of our county,”said Lorraine Hansen. “These images take us to places we’ve all been.”
Hansen, along with Dr. Janice Betts, coordinated the event.
In addition to the artists, a class of college students from Cape Atlantic attended the show.
“It’s part of an art visitation assignment,”said Cathleen Estes of Cape May.
Estes and her classmates were each charged with conducting an analysis of one piece of fine art.
“I like the colors and the textures and how it brings you right in, like you’re going to walk down the path,” said Estes of the watercolor she had chosen to critique.
