CAPE MAY – The 29th Annual Cape May County Art League Mall Show will be here before we know it. The show is held in the heart of historical Cape May on the lovely Washington Street Mall and the adjacent Rotary Park.
The show this year will take place on Sat., Sept. 24 and Sun., Sept. 25. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. This juried show features 40 artists exhibiting their original work in a wide variety of mediums and styles. Prizes totaling $1000. will be awarded.
The Art League has assembled a fine panel of judges for this favorite fall show.
• Alex Alampi – Watercolor Artist and teacher
A lifelong resident of South Jersey, Alex Alampi takes his inspiration from those who make their living from the land and the waters of his home state. His award-winning works have a remarkable eye for detail as well as an appreciation for the ordinary man in his every day environment. • Buddy Jacobs – Professor and Portraiture Artist
A graduate of the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, Buddy Jacobs has been a professor at Atlantic Cape Community College since 1993, teaching studio art courses which include drawing, figure drawing and advanced drawing, 2-D design and Art Appreciation. He has also been the Art Gallery Director/Curator at the College since 1999. Mr. Jacobs enjoys both drawing and painting with work mainly focused on the human figure and portraiture.
• Rita Michalenko – Associate Professor and Fine Artist
Receiving her B.F.A. Degree from Philadelphia College (now University of the Arts) and an M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art has lead Ms. Michalenko to the position of Associate Professor of Art at Atlantic Cape Community College where she teaches ceramics, drawing, traditional crafts, watercolors and oil painting. Ms. Michalenko exhibits at numerous art spaces in Philadelphia and New Jersey as well as participating in juried shows in both states. She resides with her husband on their farm called “Weymouth Walk” in Atlantic County, New Jersey.
