Art for History Art Auction to Benefit County Museum

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Historical & Genealogical Society and Museum is holding its sixth annual ART FOR HISTORY Fine & Decorative Arts Auction on Sept. 7, 2013.
Hosted by the Turner Family of Ocean View NJ, the event is the premier fund raiser for the Museum. Artists from all over South Jersey support the Museum through the sale of their work. There will be paintings, photographs, decoy carvings, folk art, photographs, jewelry, pottery and glass. We feature many well known local artists. This is the perfect opportunity to pick up that one of a kind item for your home, office or gift.
We are extremely excited to have Paul J. Stankard, “Artist in Glass” attend this year’s auction. Mr. Stankard is a South Jersey resident. He has achieved worldwide recognition through his work with glass. His pieces are often botanically inspired objects d’ arte. Breathtaking in appearance his work “celebrates the primal beauty of nature on an intimate level.” His art is featured in museums, galleries and private collections around the world. Several pieces of Mr. Stankards work will be on display and available for purchase. Also available will be copies of his recent autobiography “No Green Berries or Leaves: The Creative Journey of an Artist in Glass.”
The evening’s events include both silent and live auctions of art. Many of the artists whose works are available will be present. There will be a sprinkling of antiques in the silent auction. The finest hors’d oeuvres, sweet treats, wine and beer will be served. Live Steel Drum Music will be performed by local musician Bill Bittmann.
Please come out for an enjoyable evening and support the Museum of Cape May County as well as our local artists. The event is held in the Recreation Building of the Ocean View Resort Campground, 2555 Route 9 in Ocean View NJ. Preview for the Auction begins at 6pm. The Silent Auction begins at 6:30.
