Ocean City–Long Branch, NJ artist Anthony Migliaccio brings his oil landscapes to the Ocean City Arts Center throughout August. A “Meet the Artist” reception, free and open to the public will be held Friday, August 9, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
Mr. Migliaccio has worked “en plein air” in locations throughout the world including Europe, the US, Canada, and Mexico. His favorite subject matter remains his native New Jersey, especially the shore area of Long Branch and Long Beach Island. Mr. Migliaccio has received many awards and is a signature artist at the Noyes Museum in Atlantic County. In addition, he received the Geraldine R. Dodge Fellowship which enabled him to paint in Italy and France.
Rosalyn Lifshin, Ocean City Arts Center Executive Director, said, “Mr. Migliaccio is an accomplished artist. His work has been exhibited in many prestigious venues such as the National Arts Club, Milk Studios in NYC, and Monmouth and Kean Universities. Ocean City is a perfect town in which to exhibit paintings of the central New Jersey shore area, also hit by Hurricane Sandy.”
A retired art teacher and administrator, Mr. Migliaccio began as a print maker and after working with artists for 15 years, he began to paint. He says, “Eventually, I decided to experiment with painting and my printing press gave way to the easel. That’s when I realized painting was the ultimate experience for me. Now I work exclusively in oils seizing every opportunity to paint ‘en plein air’.”
