Advent Organ Recital August 12

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – Cape May’s Episcopal Church of the Advent invites everyone to its next organ recital on August 14 at 4 PM. The guest organist will be Mr. Daniel Stipe, a rising star in the organ world and the winner of several competitions.
Mr. Stipe’s combination of abilities as solo recitalist and collaborator on the organ lends a rare excitement and emotional depth to his performances. In 2006 he was featured in recital on the Rising Stars series at the National Convention of the American Guild of Organists. His original organ transcription of Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs premiered with soprano Lindsey McKee in Texas in 2007. Since then he has completed a number of transcriptions for the organ, including Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, and Brahms’ Fourth Symphony.
As a soloist and collaborator, he maintains an active concert schedule, with recent performances in Nashville, New Orleans, Princeton, New York City, Dallas, Denver, and Atlanta.
Daniel, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, obtained his bachelor’s degrees in piano and organ performance with honors at the University of North Texas in 2006. He is a prizewinner in the William Hall Pipe Organ Competition in San Antonio, the Fort Wayne National Organ Playing Competition, and other competitions.
Daniel is currently pursuing a master’s degree in organ performance at Westminster Choir College, and serves as assistant organist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton and director of music at the Episcopal Church at Princeton University.
The concert is part of an ongoing series offered by the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Cape May and is one of the church’s “Second Sunday at Advent” programs. Tickets will be available at the door at $10 per person. Episcopal Church of the Advent is located in historic downtown Cape May at the corner of Washington and Franklin Streets. All are welcome. For further information call the church office at 609 884 3065.
