Piro’s in North Wildwood has been a dining tradition since 1955. Co-Owners and siblings, Pat & Marie Piro, say that their parents had an idea for a great Italian restaurant and made it happen. Since their opening days, Piro’s has only gotten better and better with each passing year. With almost 60 years under their belts, the Piro family has established many friendships and regular guests along the way. The food is plentiful and delicious with an unrivaled reputation. A reservation is strongly recommended no matter when you come.
Piro’s sets itself apart from the competition by being consistent yet original. This year Piro’s introduces new menu options to their well-known selection of dishes. They now offer soft shell crabs daily and they make their own fresh mozzarella cheese. New to the appetizer menu are made-to-order fried homemade meatballs, called “Polpette”, served with long hots and derived from an Old Italian tradition of eating meatballs pan fried and straight out of the oven.
Piro’s also offers wines daily by the glass providing everything from White Zinfandel and Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay to La Crema Pinot Noir- Sonoma Coast and Sebastiani Merlot for the wine lover in you. If a mixed drink is your preference, try the “Tropical Martini”, a heavenly fruity addition to any entrée consisting of three flavored rums with a touch of cranberry and pineapple. The famous 22 oz. spicy Bloody Mary is another crowd pleaser and is served with a jumbo gulf shrimp.
This restaurant doesn’t only serve great Italian but also offers an extensive seafood line. Enjoy Broiled Chesapeake Lump Crab Cakes, Jack Daniels Salmon, Shrimp Fra Diavolo and much more! Try one of their signature items, a potato “cup” versus your everyday baked potato or Piro’s award-winning Crab & Spinach Chowder! All desserts are homemade. Top sellers include a Ricotta-Filled Cannoli and an outstanding Large Cream Puff filled with premium vanilla ice cream & topped with warm Kahlua sauce.
In an industry that is extremely hard work and filled with competition, Piro’s has remained very successful. According to owner Pat Piro, “In order to enjoy longevity in the restaurant business you must have passion. You can’t develop a top notch restaurant unless you live it day to day.” Piro’s has “old stove recipes”, an extensive wine list and a full bar. Their $10 a bottle wine list Mondays have been an outstanding hit and unlike many restaurants, salads are included with the entrees!
Stop in to this warm and welcoming restaurant where the owners are always there to greet you. Dine among original European lithographs of cathedrals and ornate chandeliers or gather in the bar amongst a liquor mirror collection that is continually growing. If you choose Piro’s you choose the best restaurant…period!
