4-H Fair Headliner Brings Wealth of Experience to the Stage

COURT HOUSE — Mia Bergmann, Nashville recording artist singer-songwriter and Margate resident, will headline the Cape May County 4-H Fair, July 18 from 5-6 p.m. and again from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Cape May County 4-H Fairgrounds.
For many it would take a lifetime to accomplish what Mia Bergmann has done in such a short period of time. Having just turned 16 on July 6, she has managed to excel in both the classroom and in her music career. Mia is a seasoned performer with an intense passion for her craft that has allowed her the opportunity to share the stage locally, nationally and internationally with headline acts such as Dustin Lynch, Colt Ford, The Bacon Brothers, and John Michael Montgomery.
This past June’s CMA Fest brought Mia and her band to the Hard Rock Stage 3 times. Beginning to play guitar and write songs at the age of 12, Mia was fortunate enough to learn the craft of songwriting from ASCAP Songwriter of the Year, Keith Follese, who also produced her first album. Her new EP “The Way It Seems” was just released June 3rd. Mia has written over 50 songs and has played more than 100 shows in just two years.
A sensitive young lady, Mia grew up the daughter of two drug addicts. Her mother celebrates 18 years clean and has built recovery houses in Atlantic County to help change lives of other addicts, but her father still struggles with sobriety. Mia has written a song of strength about her mother entitled “Unbreakable”. When her father relapsed in recent years, what was difficult for her to express personally took form in a trilogy of songs: “More Than That”, “I Can’t Do It for You” and “Want You to Be Mine” –the last of which prompted her father to get treatment. But that experience does not define her music. She is first and foremost a critically acclaimed entertainer. Her repertoire includes a myriad of subjects—relationships, observations and life experiences which can be heard at www.miabergmann.com.
Growing up with music constantly playing in the house and going to concerts regularly at an early age, it isn’t a surprise that Mia became so passionate about music. With influences such as Stevie Nicks, Kacey Musgraves, Zac Brown, Taylor Swift and Johnny Cash, Mia takes bits and pieces of what she listens to and shapes her own style. With a love for lyrics and song meanings, she has found a way through her songs to express how she is feeling and what inspires her.
Of course, nothing happens without a lot of hard work and a strong support team. Mia’s vocal coaches include Sal DuPre, Melanie Rice and Jonathan Peters. Her guitar instructor is Kit Worton, and she works with Richard DeKarski on piano.
During her travels back and forth between Nashville and New Jersey, Mia caught the interest of Taylor Swift’s former manager Rick Barker who continues to play a major roll in her development. Rick is constantly using her as an example with his other clients on how you can continue to get an education and pursue your dreams of making it in the music business.
“As much as Mia’s music is shaping her own life, we are also seeing the effect her music has on others,” Barker says.
Don’t miss Mia’s performances July 18 at the Cape May County 4-H Fair. The 4-H Fairgrounds are located at 355 Court House-S. Dennis Road, Cape May Court House. For more information, visit cmc4h.com or call (609)465-5115 ext. 605.
