COURT HOUSE — The 4-H Fair and Chicken BBQ has been an annual family favorite in Cape May County for 65 years.
The celebration, to be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 15, 16, and 17 at the 4-H Fairgrounds features 4-H project displays, small animal and livestock shows and exhibits, live entertainment, horse shows, commercial exhibitors, a pet show, amusement rides, games, great food, and inter-esting and informative demonstrations.
There is no admission fee to the fair.
Wizard’s Festival of Fun Amusements is always a favorite with the kids, featuring clean and safe rides for the whole family. Wizards will debut a brand new ride at this year’s fair. “Hog Wild Choppers” is a flashy motorcycle raceway -themed children’s ride featuring four colorful custom chopper cycles and a spectacularly illuminated bridge backdrop.
“Hog Wild Choppers” is joined by “Dizzy Dragons,” the “Zamperla Kite Flyer,” the “Dragon Wagon,” a “Disney Bounce” inflatable activity moonwalk, strolling entertainers and much more.
Amusement rides will be open Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. Wizards features a special Saturday Family Night offer, with unlimited rides just $15 from 6 to 10 p.m.
The fair’s traditional, tasty barbecued chicken dinner will be served all three evenings of the fair from 5-8 p.m. by the Cape May County Board of Agriculture. Always a crowd favorite, Friday’s menu adds a choice of delicious filet of flounder or chicken. Bar-b-que diners will enjoy live entertainment on the main fair stage throughout the evening.
The cost of the dinner is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Tickets are available prior to the fair at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension office, at 355 Court House–South Dennis Rd. and during the event on the 4-H Fairgrounds at the Bar-b-que Ticket Booth beginning at 4 p.m. each evening.
The public hours for the fair are noon to 9 p.m. each day. General admission to the fair is free, as is public parking and shuttle service to the 4-H fairgrounds on Cape May County Fare Free buses.

Shuttle buses will run from 11 a.m. in the morning until the last car leaves the lot after closing approximately every 15 minutes to transport fair goers to and from the event. Buses are fully handicapped accessible.
There is also limited, premium parking available for a $5 donation in the Atlantic Cape Community College’s parking lot next door to the fairgrounds, at 355 Court House-S. Dennis Rd. For visitors’ convenience, an ATM machine will be located on the fairgrounds.
