Fundraiser for Memorial of Fallen Police Officers
Saturday, January 3 from 3-7 PM
Where: Kix-McNutley’s 63rd Street, Sea Isle City
Ben Jargowsky, of Boy Scout Troop 76, has decided that his Eagle Scout service project will be to create a permanent memorial to fallen police officers – especially Sea Isle City Patrolman Michael “Mickey” Cullinane, who was overcome by lethal gases while rescuing an injured worker from a construction pit in 1992.
“This memorial is long overdue and I would like it to stand the test of time and honor Officer Cullinane for years to come,” said the future Eagle Scout.
To reach his goal, Jargowsky, 17, a senior at Ocean City High School, plans to purchase and install a stone monument, a statue of Saint Michael, brick pavers, benches and new landscaping on Landis Avenue at 26th Street, the site where officer Cullinane lost his life. In addition to a great deal of planning and physical labor, the project will also require money.
In support of Jargowsky’s Eagle Scout service project, a fundraiser will take place on Saturday, January 3, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., at KIX-McNutley’s on 63rd Street in Sea Isle City. The event, which will be open to adults age 21 and over, will include complementary beverages, food and music. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets are available at KIX-McNutley’s or by phoning (609) 425-4371.
