2nd Annual Maritime Festival at Historic Hereford Inlet Lighthouse

By Press Release

THE WILDWOODS – The 2nd Annual Maritime Festival in the Wildwoods will be held at the historic Hereford Inlet Lighthouse on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. The beacon, built in 1874, is located at 111 North Central Avenue in North Wildwood.
The Maritime Festival will highlight New Jersey’s rich nautical history and will feature over fifty artists and crafters from around the country exhibiting their works, as well as displays from numerous non-profit marine and historical organizations. Historical exhibits are planned, pirates will wander the grounds, and tours of the 19th century lighthouse and award-winning Victorian gardens will be offered. In addition, a children’s activity area is planned, and live music and festival food will also be available.
Some of the festival’s special guests include well-known story teller/folk singers Jim Albertson and Caryl P. Weiss; nationally renowned lighthouse artist Donna Elias; authors Steve Murray (Guardians of the Hereford Inlet), Anita Hirsch (A Taste of Wildwood) and David Veasey (Guarding New Jersey’s Shore); and groups such as the New Jersey Lighthouse Society, the U.S. Life Saving Service Heritage Association and The Marine Mammal Stranding Center will be on hand – among many others.
