CAPE MAY – The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company’s popular “Tales of the Victorians” returns for its twenty-fifth year! Take tea at a lovely inn or tea shop, indulge in homemade tasty treats, and listen to stories by famous American authors, like O. Henry and Louisa May Alcott, all for only $10.00. Children are always welcome, and, like other East Lynne events, ages 12 and under are free. As usual most of the “Tales” are in Cape May, but for the first time, a North Wildwood location has been added at the request of The Candlelight Inn.
Back again to perform are several ELTC favorites, including Stephanie Garrett, Lee O’Connor, Michele LaRue, Suzanne Longacre, Hope Gaines, Eileen Kirk, and Gayle Stahlhuth.
The summer schedule is every Thursday at 4:00 p.m., beginning on June 12, except there will be no “Tales” July 3. The first location is The Butterfly Tea Room, 109 Sunset Boulevard, with Stephanie Garrett, who was in last season’s “Lost on the Natchez Trace” and Lee O’Connor, who has portrayed the role of Sherlock in all of ELTC’s radio-style Holmes’ adventures. Both have become popular storytellers for “Tales.”

June 19: The Dormer House, 800 Columbia Avenue; June 26: Blue Rose Inn & Restaurant, 653 Washington St.; July 10: The Chalfonte Hotel, 301 Howard Street; July 17: The Peter Shields Inn, 1301 Beach Avenue; July 24: Candlelight Inn, 2310 Central Ave., North Wildwood; July 31: The Victorian Lace Inn, 901 Stockton Avenue; Aug. 7: The Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean Street; Aug. 14: Peter Shields Inn, 1301 Beach Avenue; and Aug. 21: Victorian Lace Inn, 901 Stockton Avenue.
During the fall, the day switches to Saturday, with the following date and location so far: Oct. 11: The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St.
Meanwhile, ELTC’s mainstage season opens with “The First Fifty Years” written by Henry Myers, starring Beckley Andrews and Samuel Douglas Clark, directed by Gayle Stahlhuth. It runs from June 11-July 19 at 8:30 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes Street, where the company is in residence. There is an after-show, opening-night party at Pier House Restaurant on June 11.
