158th birthday of Dr. Emlen Physick

CAPE MAY – Come celebrate the 158th birthday of Dr. Emlen Physick, Cape May’s illustrious Victorian citizen, on the grounds of the 1879 Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. on June 5, and watch a friendly but competitive croquet match between Friends’ groups of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), or for $5 choose your team and join in the game.
A challenge croquet match will pit the Friends of the Physick Estate against Friends of the Cape May Lighthouse on the lawn of the estate with bragging rights the prize. Who will “stake out” first? Will a rover ball be one team’s downfall? Come join the fun – wear your summer whites and root for your favorite players, or choose a team to join and play for $5. Admission to the grounds is free and festivities begin at 10 a.m.
The Friends of the Physick Estate and the Friends of the Cape May Lighthouse are affinity groups of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC). MAC is a multi-faceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors.
