KEENAN,
LORETTA ANNE
Loretta “Lori” Anne (Walkusky) Keenan, 89, formerly of Stone Harbor, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Tower Health – Reading Hospital, West Reading PA. Lori was the widow of William J Keenan, Sr., who died on April 14, 2018.
Born in Pottsville, Loretta was the daughter of the late Anna (Panak) and Sylvester Walkusky of Minersville, PA. She was predeceased by her brothers, Sylvester Jr, Francis, and Leonard. She is survived by her sister, Mary (Walkusky) Picus and many loving family members and friends.
Lori received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Following her graduation, Lori was employed in the clinical laboratory at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for 27 years. While working at the laboratory, Lori authored a comparative hematologic study and quality control method using the SMA7. She presented the study at a national convention of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. It was well received, and she was awarded a diploma as a specialist in hematology and a prestigious spot in Who's Who of American Women.
After retiring from the University of Pennsylvania, Lori moved to Stone Harbor, NJ, and for the next 10 years worked at Cape Regional Hospital in Cape May Courthouse as a Supervisor in the Hematology Department.
At 62 years old, Lori retired and Monsignor Quinn asked her to computerize the Sunday bulletin at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Stone Harbor. Lori then was employed by St. Paul's as the parish secretary for 10 years and along with her late husband, Bill, served as ushers and Eucharistic ministers.
Lori was an avid volunteer and loved helping others. While living in Philadelphia, she volunteered at the American Red Cross. She would drive the Red Cross station wagon to a small airport north of Philly for distribution of blood and platelets where needed.
In Stone Harbor, Lori was active in the Garden Club, Civic Club, and the Seniors Organization. She was an alternate leader in the regular Republican organization and on the election board of Cape May County. She received a certificate of special congressional recognition from the state of New Jersey for her work on the Cape May County Advisory Commission on the status of women. She also received recognition for working with CARA, a coalition against rape and abuse of women and helped women find a safe haven. Most recently, Lori moved to the Kutztown Pennsylvania area in 2024 to be closer to family.
