Lace up your sneakers and get ready to take steps towards a healthier heart at the Southern NJ Heart Walk, a significant community event aimed at combating heart disease. Scheduled for May 18th, this annual American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk brings together individuals, families, and organizations across Southern New Jersey to raise awareness and funds for cardiovascular health.

Heart disease remains a leading cause of death globally, with millions affected each year. However, initiatives like the Southern NJ Heart Walk strive to change this narrative by advocating for heart-healthy lifestyles and supporting crucial research efforts.

“The Southern NJ Heart Walk is more than just a walk; it’s a movement. It’s about rallying together as a community to fight against cardiovascular diseases and stroke – conditions that impact countless lives every day. By participating in the Heart Walk, you’re not only taking care of your own heart health but also contributing to the wellbeing of the community,” says Jennifer Litchman-Green, Sr. Executive Director/Sr. Vice President, Development and Community Health, American Heart Association Philadelphia, “It’s always incredible to see so many people come together with a shared goal of promoting heart health and supporting those affected by cardiovascular diseases and stroke. When communities come together, we make a real difference.”

The event promises a morning filled with camaraderie, inspiration and meaningful action. Participants will embark on a scenic walk on the Ocean City Boardwalk, enjoy educational activities and will have the opportunity to connect with fellow advocates along the way. Home base will be located at the Ocean City Sports & Civic Center where the whole family can enjoy live entertainment, a fun-filled kid zone and tents from all event sponsors.

Funds raised through the Heart Walk will support critical research, education and advocacy efforts led by the American Heart Association. These initiatives aim to empower individuals to make heart-healthy choices, improve access to quality care and ultimately save lives.

As the American Heart Association celebrates its centennial in 2024, the Southern NJ Heart Walk takes on added significance, symbolizing a century of progress in scientific discovery and innovation. With bold hearts and unwavering determination, participants, volunteers and supporters unite to propel the mission of longer, healthier lives forward.

As chair of the 2024 Southern New Jersey Heart Walk, Jim Pagano, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Kiely Family of Companies, brings a wealth of leadership and dedication to the role. “This position is something I hold near and dear to my heart – quite literally,” Pagano said. “Serving as Chair of the 2024 Southern New Jersey Heart Walk provides our enterprise and team members with a powerful opportunity to care for people. Together, we look forward to how we can help our community to be the best it can be.”
