Indictments Filed Oct. 31

Readers are reminded that not only are all individuals listed below presumed innocent unless proven guilty, but there may also be multiple individuals who share the same name, even in the same town.

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 23 indictments Oct. 31. 

The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.  

Desteni M. Camacho was indicted for third-degree aggravated assault and third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, a screwdriver. The indictment also contained a fourth-degree count for unlawful possession of a weapon.

Joanne M. Steel faces a second-degree count for endangering the welfare of a child, along with two fourth-degree counts for contempt and obstructing the administration of law.

Angelic T. Goodson and Alexis T. Goodson jointly face a count of second-degree aggravated assault along with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, in the third degree, and conspiracy in the second degree. The weapon listed in the indictment was oleoresin capsicum spray.

Zackery E. Muchler was indicted for aggravated sexual assault on a victim at least 13 and less than 16 back in 2012.

Katherine M. Campbell was indicted on three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count in the first degree and the other two counts in the third degree. This indictment involved the producing, possession and dissemination of child porn. Campbell, 23, is currently housed at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.

Jason L. Hoyle faces two counts of aggravated assault, one in the second and one in the third degree, along with a second-degree count for endangering the welfare of a child.

Dwight C. Layton was named on two separate indictments this week. In one, he faces a count of third-degree possession of a CDS, cocaine. In the second he faces a third-degree count for bail jumping related to a 2021 charge for possession of a CDS. Layton is lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.

Eugenia T. Burch faces a ten-count indictment which includes second-degree possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in an amount in excess of one-half ounce, six counts of possession of a CDS in the third degree, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, intent to distribute drug paraphernalia in the fourth degree and money laundering in the third degree. In addition to methamphetamine, the other controlled substances listed in the indictment were cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, parafluorofentanyl and alprazolam.

Christopher Duffy, Christopher Kote, Andrew Jancsura and Deborah Betancourt were separately and independently indicted on single counts of third-degree possession of a CDS. For Duffy the controlled substance was cocaine. For the others it was methamphetamine.

Matthew Camp faces a single count of fourth-degree hindering apprehension related to an incident in Lower Township in August.

Khydir Elliott, Dashawn Robinson and Nizere J. Mingo were named in an eight-count indictment. Four of the counts are for second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. The weapons were four separate handguns. They also shared a third-degree count for receiving stolen property and two fourth-degree counts for possession of prohibited weapons, large-capacity magazines and hollow-point bullets. Robinson was named alone in the final count for fourth-degree resisting arrest.

Zackary S. Robinson was indicted for drug-induced death in the first degree.

Adam Swift faces a third-degree count of possession of a CDS, methamphetamine, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, a spring-loaded switchblade.

Jordan Barreto was indicted on a single count of fourth-degree throwing bodily fluids at a corrections officer. Barreto is lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.

Fernande Metrius was named in a single-count indictment for second-degree interference with custody.

Raymond Bailey was indicted for criminal mischief with over $500 of damage to Cape May County Correctional Facility property.

DeJohn L. Taylor was indicted on nine counts, including two in the first-degree for murder and attempted murder. Taylor, 18, also faces a second-degree count for aggravated assault, four third-degree counts for possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, a knife, aggravated assault, hindering apprehension and endangering an injured victim. Two fourth-degree counts are for unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault.

Jay J. Riehl was named in two third-degree counts for burglary and theft related to an incident in Wildwood in October.

Ethan M. McElroy was indicted on three counts of sexual assault, each in the second degree, along with third-degree criminal restraint.
