Indictments Filed Aug. 8

Readers are reminded that not only are all individuals listed below presumed innocent unless proven guilty, but there may also be multiple individuals who share the same name, even in the same town.

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 17 indictments Aug. 8. 

The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.  

Jared Wood faces two counts of aggravated assault in the fourth degree. The victims of the assaults were Wildwood police officers.

Charles B. Gass, Gregory N. Gauntt, Robert Barreto, Joan S. Bozarth, and Matthew Drake were each independently indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS. In three of the five cases, the CDS was fentanyl xylazine. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a joint intelligence report on the growing dangers associated with xylazine as an additive in illicit drug distribution.

Andrea M. Deklerk was named in a one-count indictment for burglary in the third degree related to an incident in Ocean City, July 5.

Virginia R. Goolsby was indicted on a single count of fourth-degree aggravated assault.

Vincent Catanoso, of Lower Township, joins those recently indicted for possession of child porn. Catanoso faces a count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Daniel J. Craver was indicted on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree.

Brittany M. James faces two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Vincent J. Pyle was named in a three-count indictment for possession of a CDS, cocaine, along with two counts of possession with intent to distribute, cocaine and marijuana. All counts were in the third degree.

Ronaldo Urbano was indicted on three counts, including possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and aggravated assault, both third degree, along with unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth degree. The weapon was a glass bottle.

Joshua A. Puopolo faces four counts, including a second-degree count for employing a juvenile in a crime. The 17-year-old juvenile was involved by Puopolo in the fraudulent use of a credit card in the third degree. Other counts were theft of a credit card, fourth degree, and conspiracy, third degree.

Veronica R. Pataky was indicted on a single count of fourth-degree aggravated assault on a North Wildwood police officer.

Malcolm Jones faces a third-degree count of aggravated assault on a Cape May police officer.

Derek J. Lopez was indicted for second-degree aggravated assault related to an incident in North Wildwood in June.
