HUF, WILBUR E., Jr.
Wilbur E. Huf, Jr. “Bill,” age 75, of Cape May, NJ, passed away on Dec 11, 2024, after a prolonged illness.
A native of Wildwood Crest, Bill graduated from Wildwood Catholic High School and went on to receive a BA in business from La Salle University.
After graduating, Bill discovered a passion for commercial radio and began his long career as a radio show host and announcer. He was a founder and manager of Coastal Broadcasting Systems, a radio broadcasting company owning several radio stations, then located in Wildwood, NJ. Bill was committed to providing quality local news and radio content to the Cape May County community, once manning a station single-handedly through a three-day blizzard, earning him a commendation from the state for his effort to keep the community informed and safe. His voice was familiar to many and recognized throughout Cape May County.
Bill's enthusiasm for local high-school sports led him to be an initial founder and announcer for the Wildwood Classic Basketball tournament, an event that grew to draw high school teams from surrounding states every year during the holiday season.
His dedication to and knowledge of the shore community, his quick sense of humor, and his easy-going nature are a small part of what will keep him forever loved and missed by his wife, Cindy (Shartle) Huf, his son, E. Jonathan Huf, and sister Meg (Hope) Huf.
Memorial contributions are suggested to, and checks may be made to the Wildwood Catholic Athletic Department, 1500 Central Ave., North Wildwood, NJ 08260 or to The Step Back Foundation, online at https://thestepbackfoundation.com/
