HENOFER, JAMES, SR. James Henofer, Sr., 85, of Wildwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 21, 1938. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia and son, Thomas. He is survived by daughter, Trisha Henofer Taffe and son, James Henofer, Jr., as well as his grandchildren Danny, Shawn and Brittany and 5 great-grandchildren. James was a proud Teamsters member. After his retirement from Warehouse Employees Local 169 at the Fleming Foods Company in 2002, the family decided to move to Wildwood, NJ. However, even after his retirement he spent his free time making deliveries for a local sub shop, Floody's. He was known by many as Papa Smurf, and he would proudly show you his tattoo of Papa Smurf running with a beer mug that he got on his 60th birthday. In the evenings you could catch him grabbing a drink at one of his two favorite Wildwood bars, where he would be rooting for one of his favorite local teams: Nittany Lions, Phillies, Eagles and Steelers. Only a blizzard could stop him from going there. He was an avid bowler all throughout his life, first in Philadelphia and then joining a few local leagues after his move to Wildwood. He also loved doing crossword puzzles and playing a handheld Solitaire game. At his request there will be no service. Condolences may be sent to ingersollgreenwoodfh.com
