HARGEST, THOMAS J.
Thomas J. Hargest, age 80, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother as well as a faithful son and servant of his Lord Jesus, went home on June 29, 2024, after a life filled with love and craftsmanship. Born on June 26, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, to Thomas and Lena Morrone Hargest, he spent his final days in the same city, surrounded by the family he cherished dearly.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in his wife of 51 years, Dottie Hargest. Together, they raised a family that includes their son, Thomas John Hargest, Jr. (Darcy), their daughter, Sarah Young (Caleb), and they rejoice in the memories of their late son, Johnathan Hargest. His siblings, Joan Amarosso, Joseph Hargest, and Rosemary Phillips, will miss his warm presence, as will his adored grandchildren, Johnathan, Isabel, Thomas III, Ashlyn, Makenna, Landon, and Asher, and the many nieces and nephews who looked up to him. He was also predeceased by his sister Janet Yannuzzi and his brother Edward Hargest. A longtime resident of Cape May Court House, NJ, Tom was a skilled craftsman and foundational part of Hargest Custom Cabinetry who found joy and passion in woodworking. His hands shaped not only wood but also the lives of those around him. A lifelong advocate for responsible gun ownership, he was a proud lifetime member of the NRA.
Tom's friendly and creative nature was evident through his hobbies which included hunting, target shooting, and archery. His dedication to others shone brightly when he traveled on short-term mission trips, contributing his skills and warm-heartedness to communities around the world.
His passing is a loss to all who knew him, but his spirit lives on through the beautiful work he created and the loving relationships he forged throughout his life.
Memorial services will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to Iris Global, P.O. Box 493995, Redding, CA 96049-3995.
