HAMWAY, CARMELA N.
Carmela N. Hamway nee Pisano, passed away on February 21, 2025, in Bridgewater, NJ, at the blessed age of 99. Born on July 18, 1925, in Paterson, NJ, Carmela's life was defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and her passion for the crafts she loved.
Her early years saw her work as a skilled seamstress at Sears Roebuck in Wayne, NJ, before relocating to Swainton where she relished 30 beautiful years after living in Totowa for 40 years. Her craft was not limited to work; she filled her home with love through her expert cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening.
Carmela's faith was unwavering, finding joy in watching Mass and dedicating time to the rosary. She was the loving heart of her family, leaving behind cherished memories for her children, Joseph S. Hamway (Cora), Yvonne F. Bromfield (Lee), and her grandsons, Samuel and Joseph Hamway.
Her husband, Samuel Hamway, welcomed her into eternal rest, but her faith-filled legacy continues. Carmela's light will forever shine in the lives she touched.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
