Born on August 11, 1953, in Sea Isle City, NJ, Ray was known for his handy and kind nature, a legacy he leaves behind at the age of 70. Ray's life was one of dedication and love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzie Sullivan Hammer, his devoted children, Raymond Hammer, Jr. (Denise), Stacy Hammer (Jason), Kimberly Cassedy Hammer (Ronald), stepchildren Daniel Wilson and Desiree Sullivan Moore (the late Timmy), as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into his life. He also leaves behind his brothers, Fredrick and Robert Hammer. Ray was predeceased by his parents, George and Martha Watson Hammer. Professionally, Ray was a self-employed builder who found solace in the simplicity of nature. After retirement, he continued to work with his hands, selling wood from the trees he expertly chopped every day. Ray's passions included playing cornhole, throwing darts, shooting pool, playing cards, and chess. He was a staple at local car shows and was happiest when outdoors, either chopping wood or indulging in his woodworking projects. Ray's departure has left an indelible mark on those who knew him, remembered for the love he had for his family, his craftsmanship, and his compassionate spirit. Raymond Hammer's life was a testament to the adage that the truest joy is in giving of oneself, and he did so abundantly and with grace. Services will be private. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
