GEORGE, ANNE O. “NANCY”

GEORGE, ANNE O. “NANCY”
Anne O. George (nee O'Malley), affectionately known as Nancy, passed away on September 28, 2024, just a day after her 90th birthday. Born to Michael and Della O'Malley in Transfiguration Parish, West Philadelphia, Nancy grew up in a loving, faith filled home with her parents and sister Maureen.
Nancy met the love of her life, Bill, whom she married in 1956. They started a beautiful life together, eventually raising their eight children in Havertown, PA. She was a remarkable woman who embraced the role of wife and mom with humor and grace. She possessed a natural ability to create warmth and comfort within her home, evidenced by the many friends and family that gathered around her kitchen table for any occasion. She became legendary for her Sunday dinners, making sure everyone knew they were welcome, the more the merrier!
As a proud graduate of West Catholic Girls High School, she was an active member in their alumni association. Nancy continued to volunteer at Annunciation BVM Parish, and in her later years, St. Raymond Parish in Villas, NJ. Her generosity and love knew no bounds, truly embodying a servant of God.
More than anything, being Marmalade to her 17 grandchildren was her most cherished role. Nancy would drop everything if one of the 'grands' called or visited (which they often did). She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was gathering with family in Cape May or enjoying a game of shuffleboard with her Stella Maris Home Association family, every shared moment reflected her vibrant and loving personality. In 2000 she was lucky enough to have visited her parents' homes in County Mayo, Ireland, where she was able to reconnect with family. Nancy was a lifelong Phillies fan, growing up listening to the games on the radio with her father, even attending a few games at Connie Mack.
Those fortunate enough to have known her, know that she was a true testament of love, friendship, family and resilience.
Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband, William J. George, Jr., and her beloved daughter, Coleen Marie. She is survived by her children Sheila A. Merlie (Michael), Erin P. Curtis (Thomas), William J. George, III (Jennifer), Tara L. Basile (Bernard Breslin), Steven J. George (Sheila), Kellie A. Doemling (Gerald), Christopher M. George (Suzanne), and her adoring grandchildren TJ, Sammie, Billy, Sean, Patrick, JD, Nick, Coleen, Mae, Liam, Maddy, Kiki, Alec, George, John, Mackenzie, and Hailey. She was also predeceased by her dear sister Maureen O'Malley George.
Arrangements were handled by The Donohue Funeral Home, in Upper Darby, PA and a Funeral Mass was held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Annunciation BVM Church in Havertown, PA. Interment took place at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
Nancy will be remembered at an additional Mass on Saturday October 12, 11:00 AM at St. Raymond's Church, Villas, NJ 08251.
