GAU, JEROME

GAU, JEROME Jerome Gau, (aka "Jerry"), 76, of Erma, NJ, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at his home lovingly surrounded by his daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters. He was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and then grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. Jerry graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach. As a young adult he was an active surfer. He continued to love the sport well into his 40s. After high school, he went into the US Coast Guard and obtained an Associates Degree. While stationed in Cape May, he became a roller skating referee at the local skating rink. That's where his love story began. He married the love of his life (Regina aka "Jeannie" Gau-deceased 1/10/23) and started a family at age 21. Jerry went on to become owner and operator of J&R Printing Inc, in Cape May Court House. He loved this job and did it right until the very end. Jerry was also a retired night time custodian for Lower Township Elementary School District. He belonged to the Bayshore Sportsman Club in which he loved going shooting with his best friend Vince. Jerry loved his family unconditionally. He loved his many dogs, working with his hands, traveling, old black and white movies and shows, music, especially Pink Floyd and telling stories to any listening ear. He was a great man, father, husband, Poppi and friend. If you were lucky enough to know Jerry, you were lucky enough. He will be greatly missed. "Finally I understand the feelings of the few. Ashes and diamonds, Foe and friend, We were all equal in the end" Jerry is survived by his daughter, Darleen Gau-Tester (Shawn Tester); his granddaughters, Lola and Lucy Tester; and his sister Carol Toney Rice. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Jeremy D. Gau. Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, where visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
