FRIESENBORG, SIEBO EHLKO JOHN

FRIESENBORG, SIEBO
Siebo Ehlko John Friesenborg passed away at his home in Tucson, AZ on June 29, 2024. He was born the youngest of three on August 23, 1941, in Wildwood, NJ, to Meta and Ehlko Friesenborg, who were both German immigrants.
Siebo met his wife Doranne at the University of Delaware where he graduated in 1965. He immediately started his 45-year career with IBM and soon after Siebo and Doranne moved to Gaithersburg, MD to raise their three children.
Siebo's work with IBM took them many places, but he always said the highlight of his time was his three-year assignment in Waterloo, Belgium.
Outside of work, Siebo was known for his passion for airplanes and spent countless hours guiding visitors through the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC and, later in life, at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, AZ. His love for travel took him to many places, especially during his tenure in Europe, but his most cherished trips were with family and friends to Wildwood, Bethany Beach, and Sanibel Island.
Siebo enjoyed tennis, a good game of backgammon, working on puzzles, and savoring a Belgian beer. He avidly cheered for his favorite basketball and football teams, and his sense of humor was evident in his favorite TV shows M*A*S*H and Cheers.
Siebo is survived by his devoted wife, Doranne, their three children: Anita (Tom) Lebling, Chris (Erin) Friesenborg and Derek (Paula) Friesenborg, his grandchildren Molly, Kate and Siebo, and his sister Inge Laine. He was preceded in death by his sister Irma McVey (2011).
Siebo leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to bring smiles and warmth to those who knew him.
Services will be held Saturday, September 21 at 1pm at Christ Church Christiana Hundred Chapel, 505 E Buck Road, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Pima Air & Space Museum in Siebo's name.
