The public is invited to view the classic film White Christmas at 5:30 PM on Saturday, December 2, at the Excursion Park Band Shell, located at JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue.
White Christmas is a popular 1954 movie, which has become a holiday-favorite for many Americans. It features the music of Irving Belin and stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera Ellen.
The film tells the tale of friends who met in the U.S. Army during World War II and years later created a plan to “rally the troops” in support of their beloved general.
This free community event is being sponsored by VFW Post 1963 in cooperation with Sea Isle City’s Division of Recreation/Department of Community Services.
Complimentary hot cocoa and coffee will be served during the movie, courtesy of Wawa Market of Sea Isle City.
Movie-goers are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Mayor Desiderio’s 2023 Holiday Toy & Food Drive – and to dress warmly for this outdoor event. Also, bench-seating is limited at the Band Shell, so bringing a folding chair is also suggested.
The showing of White Christmas is taking place simultaneously with VFW Post 1963’s annual fundraising efforts, which help the VFW support a variety of worthy causes, including holiday events for children, programs that support youths with special needs, food drives – and supporting United States veterans.
“We are more than honored to sponsor this movie, and we look forward to seeing the community come together on December 2,” said VFW Post 1963 Commander Joe McLenaghan. “The story told in White Christmas has its roots in the United States military, and we hope it will inspire people to contribute to Post 1963’s annual fundraiser, which is currently taking place.”
Donations for VFW Post 1963 can be mailed to 301 JFK Boulevard, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243. Please make donations payable to “VFW Post 1963.”
