The First Assembly of God Church, on 1068 Seashore Road in Cape May, will change its name to Hope Church officially on September 15, 2024.

According to the current pastor, Rev. Leo Dodd, the church went through a process of rediscovering their values during the COVID lockdowns of 2020.

Rev. Dodd said: “We wanted a name that would describe our mission and values, not just a description of the organization to which we belong.”

He went on to say, “The name Hope Church along with our motto, ‘Loving God, Serving People’ is meant to communicate that we are here to serve our community and to share the good news of God’s love.”

After the name change, Hope Church will remain affiliated with the Assemblies of God, a local and national Christian network of churches and ministries.

The community is invited to celebrate the name change at the current First Assembly of God – 1068 Seashore Road Cape May, NJ on September 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Non-profit community organizations are invited to set up a table. There will be prizes, free food, and fun activities for all ages.
