Travelers using Route 49 into Cumberland County should be aware of the status of a wildfire that grew to as large as 1,000 acres by Friday, April 18, but by Saturday morning was reported to be about 50% contained.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection provided several images from the so-named Danny’s wildfire in the Peaslee Wildlife Management Area in Vineland.

The state Forest Fire Service is posting updates about the fire on its social service media platforms, which can be accessed by searching New Jersey Forest Fire on Facebook or following the service on X@njdepforestfire. Updates are posted as they become available, and there is no set interval or time frame for updates. All available fire information is at the aforementioned sites.
