A film co-written by a former Cape May County resident is finally being released in January, after being delayed due to the American actors union strike.
“The Bastard Sons,” filmed in New Jersey and in the Poconos, was co-written by Glenn Rodriguez, who was raised in Wildwood and Lower Township and wrote the original script as a junior at Cape May County Technical High School. The film is scheduled for release on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, in select theaters and on Amazon and iTunes video on-demand services.
A special screening is scheduled for this spring in Cape May County, according to Rodriguez.
The film is about small-town gangsters who seek revenge on a family after an inside job leaves their boss dead. It stars New Jersey actor Kevin Interdonato, who produced it; Ultimate Fighting champion Frankie Edgar, also of New Jersey, and Al Sapienza of “The Sopranos.”
Rodriguez said the film will be shown for one week at the following theaters: Kent Theater, Brooklyn; Emagine Chatham, Chicago; Angelika Film Center, Plano, Texas; Emagine Woodhaven, Woodhaven, Michigan, and Emagine Rogers, Rogers, Minnesota.

A Herald story originally appeared July 1 about Rodriguez’s efforts on the film. He now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
