Democracy in Trouble

By Christopher Florentz, Court House

To the Editor:

When GOP state legislators in Pennsylvania who are members of the so-called party of law and order boo and walk out on police officers who defended our Capitol and the Republican vice president and Democrat and Republican legislators inside, democracy in the U.S. is in trouble.

And, when a law-abiding tax-paying citizen like me for the first time in decades is hesitant to place a lawn sign in front of my home in support of the candidate of my choice, democracy in the U.S. is in trouble.

Ben Franklin said it best: “If we don’t hang together, we will surely hang separately.” How many times does it need to be repeated – we are not blue states or red states. We ARE the United States.
