Crest Hiking Some Fees for Bulk Trash Removal

Crest Hiking Some Fees for Bulk Trash Removal

By Christopher South

WILDWOOD CREST – The commissioners have introduced an ordinance amending the borough code on removal of bulk trash, deleting some fees and increasing others.

While the borough has designated bulk trash pickup days, requests to pick up bulk items at other times must include the appropriate fees, as set forth in the ordinance.

The ordinance, after its adoption, would remove fees for certain items that can be recycled, including window air conditioners, beach chairs, bicycles, box springs, chests of drawers, wooden or chain link fencing, hot water heaters, ranges, sinks and washers. The fee for a VCR is dropped, should someone still have one.

Fees for other items will increase. For example, small bookcases will increase from $5 to $10, with a $20 fee for large bookcases. Carpeting will increase from $10 per 100 square feet to a flat $20; recliners, coffee tables and cribs from $5 to $10, and small desks will cost the homeowner $10 to remove. The fee for removing a bathtub will increase from $20 to $40.

A copy of the ordinance with a complete list of changes is available at the office of the borough clerk. Other information regarding bulk pickup is available by calling the Department of Public Works at 609-522-7446.
