COUCH, FRANK L. Frank L. Couch, Jr. of Cape May Court House passed away peacefully on February 8th at the age of 89. The son of the late Margaret and Frank L. Couch, Sr., he was born on September 15, 1934 at Orange Memorial Hospital and grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. Frank attended Columbia High School and graduated from Villanova University in 1956. After serving Our Country in the US Army for two years, Frank started a long and rewarding career in the insurance industry, beginning with the Aetna Insurance Company in New York City. After years of raising a family in Morris County and working with various insurance agencies in New York and Northern New Jersey, Frank and his wife of 64 years, Betty, decided to move to Cape May Court House in 1993. Frank continued his insurance career in Cape May Court House where he joined the Pashley Insurance Agency before retiring in 2000. Throughout his adult life Frank had a passion and reputation as a “Handy Man” and was capable of taking on so many different projects in and around his own homes, as well as those of family and friends. He passed so much knowledge to others in this regard, including his children, and would often be seen with his toolbox, climbing a roof, building a deck or other small structure, working on a car, or toiling away in his garage workshop. Frank had endless energy, even into his later years, spending time outdoors, heading to the beach, riding bikes, traveling, and following Villanova basketball. His sense of adventure and willingness to take on challenges to help others was an admirable trait. He was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, a past member of the Wetlands Institute and the Stone Harbor Yacht Club. In addition to his wife Betty, who also grew up in Maplewood, Frank is survived by two sons, James of Cape May Court House and Peter of Morris Plains; two daughters, Lynda Kerdasha (Ron) of Baldwin, MD and Jean of Vineland; three grandchildren, Brian Kerdasha of Baltimore, MD, Jamie Makres (John) of Bel Air, MD, and David Couch of Boonton, NJ; and one great granddaughter, Ava Makres.
A memorial service at St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 9425 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 am with luncheon to follow the service. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
