WOODBINE — Woodbine Elementary School is proud to recognize seventh grade student Ms. Lynasia Harris for her quick thinking and bold effort when she performed the Heimlich maneuver on a choking student during lunch. Ms. Lynasia Harris was presented an Award of Recognition by the Woodbine Board of Education.
When asked about her quick response she humbly replied, “I was there, I saw what was happening. I just did what anyone else would do.”
Her father, Brian Harris, was present with her at the School Board meeting and award presentation. He commented, “We are just so proud of her. She is a good kid, and this is another great example of why we are proud of her. It’s great that she gets the recognition for doing the right thing.”
Lynasia was applauded several times by the School Board and audience. Lynasia is a student in good standing as well as an avid athlete. She participates on the Woodbine and North Wildwood AAU basketball teams and the Woodbine softball team.
