Woodbine Celebrates National Service

WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine celebrated its fourth annual Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service and honored Woodbine’s senior volunteers during the Borough’s Health and Wellness Fair at the Woodbine Community Center.  The Mayor presented a proclamation in honor of the day.
The Borough of Woodbine has twelve area residents who are Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers.  Serving on the RSVP Cape May County Advisory Council are Evelyn Perez (Executive Director of the Woodbine Municipal Alliance), Sheila Harris (Southern Regional Coordinator of the New Jersey Foster Grandparent Program), Borough employee Gloria Blakey.
Serving at the Community Center are Pete Gilson, Paula Harris, Sharon O’Neil and Aida Soto. Also serving: American Red Cross: Elsie Swartz; S.W.I.M  Program: Brenda Rickley; VITA: Mike Gaines and Jay Levin; and VIM: Evelyn Coleman. Additionally, Romonita Tirado  and Rose Hudgins both serve at the Woodbine Elementary School under the foster grandparent program.
“I wish to thank all of our senior volunteers, as well as all our other volunteers. Without the assistance of their donated hours so many activities and programs in the Borough would not be possible,” commented Mayor Pikolycky.
