Woodbine Announces 2016 Holiday Parade Winners

Sea Isle City Parade

By Press Release

WOODBINE – Mayor William Pikolycky congratulates the trophy winners from Woodbine’s 2016 annual holiday parade and thanks all of the participants.
Woodbine Elementary School’s “marching band” joined various fire and rescue vehicles and other participants in the parade before leading caroling at the Christmas tree prior to joining Santa and the Mayor in lighting both the tree, the gazebo lights, and the whole park-like pavilion area.
Olaf and the Sea Isle Ice Bag braved the evening chill to join in the caroling.
Everyone then headed over to the FireHouse for cookies, candy canes, hot chocolate, and a visit with Santa.
Jane Stark from the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage donated the stuffed animals and the Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department provided hot chocolate, cookies, and gloves and Play Doh for the children.
Trophies were awarded for:
Best Appearing Fire Company: First place: Tuckahoe; Second: Sea Isle City
Best Appearing Rescue: First place: Sea Isle City Rescue; Second: Upper Township Rescue
Best Marching Unit: First place, Woodbine Elementary School band Second place: Sea Isle City Ice.
Best Float: First place: Martinez/Ortiz Family Float
“Unlike the last two years, the weather was much more seasonal, but I note that number of participants increased,” noted Mayor Pikolycky. “Thanks all who worked to make this parade a joy to the community. I also thank the Cape May County Library for bringing “The Joyful Bell Ringers” to our Woodbine Branch earlier Saturday afternoon to give a talented and delightful performance.”
