WOODBINE — Mayor William Pikolycky congratulates the trophy winners from Woodbine’s Dec. 8, 2017, annual holiday parade and thanks all of the participants and those who made the parade possible.
Participants this year included seven fire companies, three emergency services, nine floats, and four marching units. This year Sea Isle Ice Bag was joined by several other friendly characters.
Following Santa and Mayor lighting the tree, the gazebo lights, and the whole park-like pavilion area, everyone then headed over to the FireHouse for cookies, candy canes, hot chocolate, and a visit with Santa and awarding of the trophies.
Trophies were awarded for:
Best Float: First place: Middle Township Chamber of Commerce; Second: Caprioni’s
Best Marching Unit: First place, Woodbine Elementary School Marching Band, Second place: Boy Scout Troop 77.
Best Appearing Fire Company: First place: Dennisville; Second: Leesburg
Best Appearing Rescue: First place: Sea Isle City; Second: Belleplain
“The light snowfall made the evening even more festive and again I noted that the number of participants has continued to increase, and am especially glad to welcome the newly reformed Boy Scout Troop 77,” noted Mayor Pikolycky. “. I was disappointed that additional snowfall predictions caused the Cape May County Library to cancel “The Joyful Bell Ringers” at our Woodbine Branch the and look forward to their being part of our festivities again next year. And I thank Public Works for all their preparations for this event.”
