Winners of 2015 My County Poster Contest to Be Honored April 22

COURT HOUSE — Twelve winners of the 23nd Annual My County Poster Contest were selected March 13 from among 140 entries submitted by fourth grade students from 8 elementary schools and one home school who participated in the contest sponsored by Cape May County’s Constitutional Officers – County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti, Surrogate M. Susan Sheppard and Sheriff Gary G. Schaffer. The contest was judged by volunteers from the Cape May County Library and Cape May County Culture and Heritage Division of the Dept. of Tourim.
The winners are as follows:
1st Place Sharyn Accardi, Maud Abrams School
2nd Place Kendall Hitchner, Maud Abrams School
3rd Place Elizabeth Higgins, Woodbine Elementary School
Honorable Mention:
Trina Frey, Cape Trinity Catholic School
Ramon Diaz-Velazquez, Woodbine Elementary School
Christopher Hernandez-Lopez, Glenwood Avenue School
Brenna Farrell, Crest Memorial School
Arianna Taylor, Margaret Mace Elementary School

Jennette Ziemba, Crest Memorial School

The twelve winners will be honored at a special awards ceremony on April 22 at 3:30 p.m. in the Cape May County Court House, Jury Assembly Room.
All winners will receive a book bag filled with items and a personalized mug. The 1st place winner will receive a $100.00 gift card plus a home room pizza party lunch, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a $50.00 gift card.
The annual event is hosted by the Constitutional Officers during April National County Government Month to bring awareness of the function of county government to fourth graders, who regularly study the topic as part of their curriculum. “The posters are beautiful drawings of what is important and meaningful about Cape May County to our fourth graders. Our coastal environment, family attractions, U.S. Coast Guard and Cape May County government services are all themes on this year’s winning posters” Fulginiti said.
The winning posters will beon display during the month of April in the West Lobby of the Cape May County Court House. The winning posters will be featured on a 2016 color poster calendar distributed to the winners and 2016 fourth grade class.
