Wildwoods Host Sophisticated Productions National Dance Competition, July 16-21

WILDWOOD This year marks the 23rd Anniversary that Sophisticated Productions returns to the Wildwoods Convention Center for its National Dance Competition. The six-day event takes place July 16 through July 21 with awe-inspiring performances from talented young dancers. 
Dance competitions will feature solos, duets, trios, small groups, large groups, lines and productions ranging from amateur to experienced dancers from all over the country. Dancers will compete in the following categories: Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Open, Musical Theater, Character, Hip Hop, Acro, Modern, Pom Pom, Clogging, Ballet, Pointe, Song/Dance, Voice and Contemporary.
All performances are choreographed to music, and over $30,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the top scorers. Judges will score each competitor on the following five categories: Choreography; Technique; Difficulty; Stage Presence/Personality; and Costume, Hair & Makeup. Some dancers will even have the opportunity to perform on the Wildwood Talent Showcase Beach Stage located at Schellenger Avenue on the Wildwoods Boardwalk, held nightly at 7 p.m.
Sophisticated Productions Dance Competitions focus on coordinating professionally organized dance competitions across the nation that educate dancers in a positive, fun and most importantly, stress-free environment.
Competitions begin at 8 a.m. daily and admission is free.
