CAPE MAY AIRPORT — Summer is in full swing at Historic Hangar #1! Thurs., July 6 brought in the first installment of the free Summer Lecture & Film Series presented by Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum. Dr. Robert Heinly, gave a tremendous and informative lecture on defending Cape May and the Twin Capes during World War II. The next free event will take place Thurs., July 13, at Hangar #1, 500 Forrestal Road in the Cape May Airport Complex. The Aviation Museum will be partnering with Cape May Film to present “Where’s Amelia Earhart” a National Geographic film. This summer marks the 80th Anniversary of Ms. Earhart’s controversial disappearance. This film is open to the public and is a free, family-friendly event. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the film will start at approximately 7:00 p.m.

In addition to the evening lectures on Thursdays, the museum will also be open late every Fri. night in July and Aug. The museum and all exhibits will be open until 9:00 p.m. rather than the usual 5:00 p.m.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located in Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport. The airport was once Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center. The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945. The museum is currently open daily 9-5, Fridays in July and Aug. until 9 p.m.
