Volunteers Needed for Annual Beach Clean-Up in Sea Isle City, April 30

Beach Cleanup

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Individuals, families, civic organizations, scout troops and other eco-minded volunteers are encouraged to show their support for Mother Nature during the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission’s 2016 Spring Beach Clean-Up April 30, 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon (rain date: Sunday, May 1).
Tee-shirts will be given to those who help clean the beaches (while supplies last), provided courtesy of Approach Clothing Company, 6300 Landis Avenue. Afterwards, all volunteers will be invited to attend a complimentary buffet luncheon at Mike’s Seafood Market and Dockside Restaurant, located on Park Road in historic Fish Alley, provided courtesy of owner Mike Monichetti and his family.
During the Beach Clean-Up, volunteers will gather trash and debris from Sea Isle’s entire shoreline.  While cleaning the beaches and dunes, participants will also document what items are collected.  That data will be sent to Clean Ocean Action, of Highlands, NJ, where it will be compiled with similar information from other shore communities in order to identify possible pollution issues.
No pre-registration is required to participate in Sea Isle’s Beach Clean-Up. Volunteers can sign-up on the morning of April 30 at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade, where Environmental Commission members will distribute cleaning supplies, tee-shirts and tickets for the luncheon.
Students who donate their time during the Beach Clean-Up can earn community service credits.
