Villas Woman to be Honored by GSCSNJ

By Press Release

VILLAS – In April, Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ (GSCSNJ) will be celebrating their outstanding volunteers for their devotion, support, and impact on the lives of Girl Scouts in our area.
Their Volunteer Recognition Celebration highlights volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help girls achieve their dreams. It’s a time to show appreciation to all of their volunteers and let them hear the applause for all of the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the Girl Scout season!
This year, the “Celebrate” award ceremony and luncheon will take place April 28, at The Mansion in Voorhees at 11 a.m. GSCSNJ is giving out the Appreciation Award, the Honor Award, the 20 Years Helping Hands Award, the Thanks Badge, the Spirit Award, the Golden Rose Award, and Community Partner Award.
In addition to these special awards, there are also recognitions for those adults who have been Girl Scout members or served Girl Scouts for 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, or 50 years. GSCSNJ will also be shining the spotlight on STAR Service Units.
This year, Joan Koeck, of Villas, will be receiving the Appreciation Award. The Appreciation Pin recognizes an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This service, which has had measurable impact on one geographic area of service, helps reach and surpasses the mission-delivery goals of the area.
Koeck began her Girl Scout journey as a Brownie. Currently, Koeck has two grand-nieces who are in Girl Scouts and her husband was a registered Girl Scout for over 30 years before his passing in 2009. Through moving around in her adult life, Koeck always called the Girl Scout Office in her area to see if there was anywhere she could be of service. She has become a Cadette Leader in multiple states and has many volunteer jobs with the Girl Scouts from cookie coordinator to mini-camp director.
GSCSNJ sends a special thank you to volunteers who freely give time and talents to help girls make the world a better place. Without volunteers, the Girl Scout experience would not be possible.
