County Library Highlights Disabilities Awareness Month with Display:
The County library is featuring a display highlighting Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. The display, assembled by the Arc of Cape May County, will remain at the library through March 31. The public is encouraged to view the display at the library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
March is developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This display is an opportunity to spread the word about our cause to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.

County Library Participates in the Book Wish Foundation Fundraising Campaign:
In collaboration with the New Jersey State Library, the Cape May County Library is hosting a month-long campaign to raise money for the Book Wish Foundation. Stop by your local Cape May County Library branch from now until April 14 to donate to the Book Wish Foundation.
Money raised will go towards the Book Wish Foundation’s project promoting literacy and building libraries in Darfur refugee camps in Chad. For more ways to donate your time or money to the cause, visit the foundation’s website at http://bookwish.org/act-now.

County Library Hosts Card Tournament:
The Cape May County Library invites the public to an All-Ages Card Tournament at 12:30 p.m. on Sat., April 7. The program will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Come play Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering tournament style at the library!
Yu-Gi-Oh will be played advanced style. Prizes will be awarded to the top three players in each game.
Please note that this is not an officially registered tournament; one deck per player with a sideboard of twenty cards allowed.

County Library Hosts Lecture on Linkedin:
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Linkedin- Social Networking for Job Seekers” presented by Greg Carter. The program will take place at 6 p.m. on Mon., April 2 at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
“Linkedin for Job Seekers” is a seminar focusing on social networking for anyone looking to make connections and find opportunities to advance their career. Linkedin is the fastest growing online social network dedicated exclusively to making new connections for your career or business. You will learn how to build your own “personal brand” through Linkedin, the number one site for people in career transition.
Greg Carter is an online marketing consultant with 11 years staff experience in e-business to build online visibility for small and large organizations. The expanding presence of social networking inspired Carter to apply his internet marketing experience to help people market their abilities and increase their own visibility through Social Networking.
County Library Hosts Family Movie Night:
The Cape May County Library invites children ages 6 to 12 and their families to watch “The Muppets” during Family Movie Night on Fri., April 13 from 6-8 p.m. The program will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Another showing will be held on Saturday, April 21st from 1-3 p.m. at the Lower Cape Branch, located at 2600 Bayshore Rd in the Villas.
In “The Muppets,” we meet Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary from Smalltown, USA. While on vacation in Los Angeles, they discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10-million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways. “The Muppets” will be shown on our big screen and is rated PG.

County Library Hosts Cooking Demonstration on the Aspects of a Passover Meal:
Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Cape Cuisine: Cooks Pesach” presented by Chef Mark Kalla at 1 p.m. on Sat., April 21. The program will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Chef Mark Kalla will demonstrate aspects of a Passover meal including tsimis, charoset and the significance of the Seder plate and matzah. Participants will be invited to sample the foods that have been prepared.
Chef Mark Kalla is the head chef at Green Cuisine Restaurant in Stone Harbor and runs the Avalon Elementary School cafeteria and teaches culinary instruction to children during the summer.

Cape May County Surrogate Speaks at County Library:
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend a lecture on “Wills & Estates” presented by Cape May County Surrogate W. Robert Hentges at 2 p.m. on Fri., April 13. The program will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
The word surrogate means one who takes the place of another, in the unfortunate case when people die intestate the surrogate appoints the closest next of kin as the administrator of the estate. W. Robert Hentges, who has been Surrogate for 40 years, will discuss finer aspects and legalities of wills and estates, as well as the laws concerning minors and inheritance.
The Surrogate Court is a constitutionally required office that includes being the Judge of the Surrogate Court, is an elected position and the term is five years.

County Library Hosts Children’s Author Margie Palatini:
The Cape May County Library invites children and their parents to come and meet the celebrated children’s book author and illustrator Margie Palatini.
We are offering two unique opportunities to meet Palatini at the following library branches:
Wed., April 11
– 11 a.m. – Preschoolers, age 3-5 and their families, Upper Cape Branch, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg.
– 2:30 p.m.- Children grades K-4 and their families, Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Ms. Palatini’s books will be available for purchase. Both events are open to the public and will include a book signing.

County Library Hosts Art History Discussion Group:
The Cape May County Library hosts an art history discussion group every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. The discussions take place at the Lower Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
Come and join us as we view A History of European Art with Professor William Kloss from the Great Courses Company and then discuss the lecture… More than just facts and dates, the group discussions are a free-flowing exchange of ideas triggered by the lectures.

County Library Holds Book Sale:
The Cape May County Library will be holding a three day book sale beginning Mon., April 23 and ending Wed., April 25 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The book sale will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
The library book sale is a great opportunity to increase one’s own personal library or find a gift for a friend. On the first day of the book sale hardcover and soft cover books will be 25 cents, magazines and small paperbacks will be 10 cents, cassettes and videos will be 50 cents and DVDs and CDs are $1. On the second day of book sale all items will be half price. On the third and final day of the book sale shoppers can fill a bag for $1.

County Library Hosts Angry Birds, LIVE!:
The Cape May County Library invites kids in grades 3 through 8 to participate in Angry Birds, LIVE! The events will take place at various library branches throughout the month of April.
You’ve conquered every level of Angry Birds on your phone, but will you be victorious in real life? Make your own angry birds and evil pigs, then create and play a live-action version of the game! Drop in any time during the program; you are not required to stay for the entire time.

The creations made by the Cape May County Library’s Lego Club members will be on display during the month of April. The display will be at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Come see award winning Lego creations made by Cape May County kids. The library holds Lego Club for children throughout the fall, winter and spring on Saturdays and Wednesdays (please check our calendar for dates). Some of our club member’s best creations will be on display.
