WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest is set to officially introduce a new monument to its popular bike path.
The Crest will unveil a bike statue at the southern entrance of the beachfront portion of the bike path at Rambler Road, between Ocean Avenue and the entrance to the beach, on May 5 at 6 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held May 12 at 6 p.m.
The monument is a nine-foot by 15-foot aluminum model of a bicycle that sits atop a four-foot concrete base. It was built by Heritage Towers, a marine contractor and design company, with design and construction performed by Mike Hollenback and Mike Seaverns.
“We’re very pleased with how the construction of the bike statue turned out and we can’t wait to officially unveil it to the public,” said Don Cabrera, Wildwood Crest Commissioner of Public Works and Recreation. “This is an added amenity that will enhance the experience of riding along the bike path. We also think this will become an iconic monument to residents and visitors alike. We expect it to be a very popular place to take personal and family photographs, which will help market Wildwood Crest through social media postings.”
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the event.
For further information, call Wildwood Crest Borough Hall at (609) 522-5176 or the Wildwood Crest Recreation Department at (609) 523-0202.
