Twelfth Consecutive Year for Ride Against AIDS Stopover in Woodbine

By Press Release

WOODBINE — The Borough of Woodbine will, for the twelfth year, be a major resting stop for the Sept. 29 final day of the 2013 New Jersey Ride Against AIDS again this year. Riders will be stopping at the Woodbine Emergency Management/Public Safety Building on DeHirsch Avenue approximately between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. (time is weather dependent).
The New Jersey Ride Against AIDS, an inspirational bicycling event to benefit New Jersey based charities that assist people living with HIV and AIDS, will be celebrating its twelfth annual ride. The three-day ride, September 27 through 29, travels approximately 250 miles, starting in High Point State Park and ending in Cape May Point, a major bikepath route in New Jersey that runs through Woodbine.
The purpose of the Ride is to raise awareness that AIDS is still a concern in New Jersey and to raise money to address that concern.
The Ride is an alcohol-free and drug-free event, open to adults 18 and over. Riders are held to a strict code of conduct, including adhering to New Jersey traffic law. Fifty Riders, crew/support members, and an assortment of support vehicles that assist Riders are involved on the day. Traffic volunteers placed at strategic places along the route ensure Riders do not miss turns and assist at hazardous locations with minimal impact to local traffic.
One of the extraordinary features of this event is 100% of the pledge donations raised by the riders and crew will go directly to New Jersey HIV/AIDS charities and AIDS research, and are fully tax-deductible. Expenses for the Ride will be covered through corporate and private sponsorship and participant registration fees. New Jersey Ride Against AIDS is a 100% volunteer organization, with no paid or salaried employees. If you are interested in learning more about the Ride, please visit their website at www.njrideagainstaids.org or speak with someone firsthand at the Ride.
“We are delighted to again be selected as a resting stop on the route of this effort to combat this devastating disease as Woodbine is a designated part of the High Point to Cape May bikeway, as well as being on the Pine Barrens Byway and the Coastal Heritage Trail,” noted Mayor Pikolycky, “We are always honored to be partnering by way of use of our public safety complex. We invite anyone to stop by and chat with the Riders during their stop here about the worthy work their organization does.”
