Train Show and Sale

By On Deck Staff

Large model train displays are featured every holiday season at Ocean City’s popular Train Show and Sale set for Dec. 5-6 at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace.
The show features colorful working displays that delight children and adults alike plus vendors who sell trains, parts, accessories and memorabilia suitable for year around and holiday exhibits.
A 10×20 foot display will be exhibited by the South Jersey S Gaugers in the Solarium of the Music Pier with four to five models operating simultaneously. Loading platforms and sawmills will be part of the display.
The stage of the Music Pier will highlight a working exhibit of Gauge 1 railway trains by thy South Jersey Garden Railroad Society. The exhibit is a favorite of children as they can sit on stage and watch large models circle through colorful foliage and forest settings.
Members of the Society will discuss outdoor garden exhibits and youngster will be permitted to take the controls of the display.
Dick Yard, an expert technician, will provide on-the-spot repair service.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sat. Dec. 5 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sun., Dec.6. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children. Proceeds benefit Ocean City special events. There is plenty of free parking close to the Boardwalk.
