By On Deck Staff

Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum will hold the first of five free lectures on June 3 at 7 p.m.
The museum will host Philadelphia native and decorated Navy Aviator CDR Samuel J. Paparo discussing “Naval Aviation in Today’s Combat Operations.”
Paparo will be flying into Cape May Airport in a special 30th Anniversary F/A-18. The aircraft is painted in the original color scheme as the first F/A-18.
Tentative arrival time for the jet is set for 3 p.m.
Commander Paparo’s awards include the Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service Medals, and the Air Medal with Combat “V,” three Air Medals, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and numerous campaign and service medals.
He has accumulated 5,100 hours in the F-14, F-15, and the F/A-18 with 800 carrier landings.
NASW is located in Historic Hangar No. 1 at the Cape May Airport, New Jersey. Cape May Airport was formerly Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center.
The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945.
