This Friday Is First Friday at the Nature Center

CAPE MAY – This Fri. is First Friday … and New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center is featuring reasonably priced original art work, a holiday & garland workshop, “One Stop Shopping” at the Center’s gift shop, and a campfire!
For the past month, The Harbor Gallery has featured a Holiday Artists Marketplace. This very special exhibit runs through December. All artwork is original and is priced under $50 and presents the work of local photographers, painters, potters, printmakers, jewelers and mosaic artists and features the talents of Janet Payne, Tina Giaimo, Lee Hajduk, Pam Huber, Susan Ross, Lynda Fellenbaum, Anita Roth, Laura McPherson, Glenn Fellenbaum and Janet McShaine. The public is invited to meet the artists at a reception scheduled to coincide with the Center’s First Friday celebration beginning at 6:00.
Holiday Wreath & Garland Workshops are always a popular events and this year will be no exception. Use fresh evergreens of Douglas fir, spruce, pine, cedar and other natural materials to create handcrafted wreaths and garlands for family and friends. The process is easy to learn and the Center’s staff will ensure that even beginners go home with impressive one-of-a-kind creations. Cost per workshop is $15 for members and $20 for non-members; all material and supplies are furnished. Call ahead and register then come out at 5:30 this Friday, 11/30.
The Center’s Gift Shop is your perfect “One-Stop-Shopping” destination for all things local and nature. That bird lover on your list will appreciate a winter supply of Aspen Song seed or New Jersey’s homegrown S.A.V.E. black oil sunflower seed, suet or maybe even a new feeder. The Gift Shop also carries Dr. Desai Soap, made with all natural ingredients, stocking stuffers and a great selection of kids’ books and stuffed animals. Discounts based on Audubon membership may apply.
Also this Fri., the Holiday Campfire beginning about 6:00. There is no more meaningful gift than your time, attention and companionship. Come out to our Holiday Campfire this Friday, November 30th and share a bit of yourself with family and friends, and make some new friends in the process. Dress warm for the chilly night and bring your own beach chair; join us as we sit around an old-fashioned campfire roasting marshmallows, swapping yarns and listening to the night sounds. Cost per person is $5.
The Nature Center of Cape May (NCCM) is situated on the rim of Cape May Harbor at 1600 Delaware Avenue in Cape May. One of 10 centers operated by New Jersey Audubon, the Center provides family oriented programming in the marine sciences on a year-round basis. The public is invited to visit our campus, shop at the nature store and view the breathtaking harbor and its environment from the Trucksess Observation tower.
