All who appreciate the benefits of Boy Scout programs are invited to support Scouting in Cape May County at the 10th Annual Distinguished Citizens Reception which will be held on Monday, Oct. 26 at the Wildwoods Convention Center. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by dinner and an awards presentation at 7 p.m.
Three leading Scout supporters have been selected as the 2015 Distinguished Citizens to be honored. Dave “Dirt” Beyel of Marmora and Joyce and Alan Gould of Wildwood Crest are this year’s honorees for the Distinguished Citizens of the Year Award for the Cape May County section of BaySea District of the Garden State Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Each year, the “Good Scout” Statue is presented to community leaders who exemplify the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Law and Oath. Dave Beyel, Joyce Gould and Alan Gould have been selected as this year’s honorees for outstanding service to the community as evidenced by the interest and leadership they have provided to many worthwhile organizations, and the respect and esteem in which they are regarded by their family, friends, colleagues and neighbors.
John Lynch of Wildwood Crest will also be presented with the Whitney Young Service Award at the Oct. 26 reception. The Whitney Young Service Award recognizes outstanding service and support to Scouting opportunities for youth from rural and economically challenged areas. Cub and Boy Scouts in the Wildwoods have benefited from Mr. Lynch’s efforts to serve his community through the Lunch with Lynch Foundation.
