Rutgers Cooperative Extension Department of Family and Community Health Sciences will bring back its “Me and My Dad” program by hosting a Me and My Dad at the Beach interactive summer safety program for children, ages 7-14, and their fathers.
The event will be held May 20 from 6-7 p.m., at the Cape May Lifeguard Headquarters on Beach Drive at Grant Street in Cape May.
Participants will learn how to recognize riptides and other risks to swimmers.
Information regarding the junior lifeguard program will be discussed and children will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with experienced lifeguards.
Officer Tony Genaro of Cape May Police Activities League (PAL) will present a bicycle safety lesson and offer incentives for summer bicycle riders who wear their helmets.
Participants will join in on a fun game of Beach Ball Food Trivia. Fun-in-the-sun snacks and additional important summer food safety information will be provided to all who attend.
This event is free of charge but reservations are required.
