Stone Harbor to Host ‘Living Green’ Event, Sept. 10

STONE HARBOR – The Stone Harbor Go Green Committee will be hosting their 2nd Annual Go Green Fair Sept. 10, 2016 at the 94th Street parking lot.  This event will offer over 20 businesses and organizations.  Each business/organization will offer information on specific sustainable issues that help educate visitors that attend and hopefully encourage them to discover new ways to be more aware of their environment.
Our own Public Works department will provide information on recycling and clean ocean action initiatives, our Go Green Committee will provide information on water conservation and offer a free reusable tote and water bottle (while supplies last).   St Barnabas Church will offer a collection bin and are requesting donations of children’s coats for the winter promoting re-use.  Blue Moose Landscaping will offer a free irrigation analysis, the Borough’s electric vehicles will be on display along with our newest Fire Truck which is equipped with a foam/water system which saves water when extinguishing a fire, South Jersey Surf rider Foundation will offer information on beach cleanup and plastic bag education, Trinity Solar and Sungevity will be present to offer solar energy information.
This event will also offer local businesses and artists that use natural and repurposed material.
Nate Unsworth, a local magician will offer two shows focusing on the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
South Jersey Gas, The Borough’s Shade Tree Committee, The Cape May County Library , McMahon Insurance Agency and UGO Systems will also be present.
Burke Motors will offer an electric car and will be offering registration for their “Get in Gear Event” which promotes and supports local scholarships opportunities. 
This event is a family event offering free giveaways.   
The Borough of Stone Harbor obtained bronze certification status through Sustainable Jersey in 2014.
The Borough of Stone Harbor Go Green Committee is committed in helping residents and visitors understand the importance of “going green”.  The information provided at our fair enables homeowners to control costs and save money and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term.
